Abstract
The need for reference materials for freshmen college students taking NSTP course is such that one book alone would not be enough. There are limited texts available for the use of students taking up NSTP. If there are such they demand more understanding than what freshman students' background or basic foundation could handle. This book has put together materials that will enable the students to be more equipped with skills to know themselves and be of service to their community.
The book is also intended to serve as a concise and effective text which can be used by NSTP facilitators in colleges and universities. It can also be a supplementary guide to students as well as to the facilitators in an NSTP course.
Completion of this book has proven to be demanding for putting up the essential areas necessary in NSTP course which are considered all together and presenting it in most concise manner. Accordingly, the first chapter covers the background of NSTP and its legal basis. Chapter 2, 3 and 4 cover topics o human person, self-awareness and developing of human values, which are quite important lessons especially among the freshmen students who are on their stage of knowing better their selves. Chapter 5 and 6 tackle areas or leadership and teambuilding. These parts educate students in knowing their leadership abilities and function in community development while chapters 7 deals with decision-making and conflict resolution. Chapter 8 dwells on problem affecting students and schools. Chapter 9 covers topics on how students' will adapt and become successful in their academic life. Chapter 10 will discuss drug and drug abuse.
To make each lesson more interesting, every topic is provided with activities and evaluation exercises to assist students in reaching as deeper and more meaningful appreciation of the course.
